40,000 rockets exploding at once

On Saturday April 7, artist Cai Guo-Qiang marked the opening of his exhibition by setting off 40,000 rockets from the wall of the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA. He titled it “Mystery Circle: Explosion Event for The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles”; a site-specific work created for MOCA. It’s actually somewhat disappointing, because he clearly used a bunch of pansy rockets, as opposed to the manly, building-leveling kind I prefer.
